Over the weekend, my friend spontaneously suggested working from Lighthouse Beach House and there was obviously no way I could turn it down. We decided to spend all of Tuesday at the new beach house for a “work from beach” day! Lighthouse Beach House is located at Tarkwa Beach, which is great because it’s a lot easier to access than private beaches, such as Ilashe. You can get there via private boat, banana boat, or by ferry. Since it was a weekday, we paid N20,000 per person, which included unlimited cocktails, lunch and access to the cabanas, the pool and other outdoor amenities from 10am – 6pm. Can’t lie – Lighthouse looks a lot bigger on Instagram than it is in real life. That said, I would recommend going during the week, if you can. There was only one other couple there besides our group of 4, and I think any extra people would’ve made it feel a bit too crowded.
Food & Drink
The drinks were bottomless, so that alone made the 20k worth it. I tried the Beach Bum, Lighthouse and the Passionfruit Mojito, which were all really good – not too sweet, and the perfect amount of liquor to get the job done. For lunch, I ordered the Catch of the Day with a side of jollof rice and it was so delicious, I basically inhaled my food. I also tasted my friend’s chicken and it was really tasty. I think the portion sizes were decent, but if you eat a lot you’d probably consider it small.
Outdoor Facilities
As I said before, the outdoor facilities were a bit smaller than we expected. But, the cabanas were actually really lovely and actually made the heat more bearable. They also had a good playlist on throughout the day, so being poolside with a cocktail and friends was an amazing vibe.
Apparently, the firepit is only set up at nighttime, but since they’re generally only open from 10-6pm, I’m assuming this is for special events in the evening.
Other Amenities
Please be warned that the wifi was not working when we went to Lighthouse. If you’re planning to do work or rely on the wifi for any reason, please bring your own modem or wifi just in case.
Our time at Lighthouse Beach House was actually a lovely and relaxing day. And it photographs beautifully, so it’s definitely perfect if you need to update your Instagram content. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing day at a beach house, without too much activity.
