48 Hours in Milan

As a full-time masters student, I am actively trying to perfect the skill of exploring a city in just two days. What seems so easy in theory is actually quite difficult in practice. This past weekend I took a mini vacation to Milan, Italy and it was such a much-needed break from the madness that is uni. Keep reading for the best ways to spend just 48 hours in Milan!

Hotel:

Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts, you definitely want to stay in the city center when planning a short trip. I stayed at the Four Points Sheraton Milan Center, which was budget-friendly, yet clean, modern, and had a mouth-watering breakfast spread.

Food:

As one would expect, the food in Italy was out of this world! I literally did not consume anything that didn’t make me pause in amazement at the utter deliciousness.

For pizza that is simply unreal, please go to Pizzeria Gino Sorbillo. Make sure you call ahead, as there’s usually a very long (but completely worthy) wait.

For delectable pasta and wine, Il Tovolino is your place. I kept it simple with a traditional lasagna but it was by far the best lasagna I’ve ever had. It’s honestly for the best that my time in Milan was short or I would easily be twice my size upon returning home.

Sightseeing:

DUOMO. Without seeing this breathtaking cathedral, located in the center of Milan, your trip is miserably incomplete. As if the intricacy of the architecture was not remarkable enough, the view of Milan from its rooftop was unmatched – definitely a must see!

Just a few meters from the Duomo, sits the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, arguably one of the most elegant shopping malls. As the oldest mall in one of the world’s fashion capitals, this mall doesn’t disappoint with stores from H&M all the way up to Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada.

If you’re an art-lover, Pinacoteca di Brera has a vast collection of some of Italy’s most highly esteemed paintings. My personal favorite is this one (pictured below) because this guy is my mood for 2019. Plus do you see his leggings?! A look.

Although I didn’t have time to see it, the Navigli Canal is another location that’s worth exploring in Milan. This buzzing neighborhood is filled with small cafes and trendy art galleries. Don’t forget to experience  “aperitivo,” an Italian happy-hour, at one of its many bars.

If you’re looking to explore a charming city with amazing cuisine, Milan is definitely the perfect 2019 destination! Comment below if you’ve ever been to Milan or you’re planning to go soon!
